THE AXS METHOD

Every clinician eventually reaches a point where experience begins to ask questions that textbooks alone cannot answer.

For me, that process began more than twenty years ago through Medicine, Chiropractic, postgraduate training and, above all, clinical practice.

Over more than fifteen years of clinical practice, recurring patterns began to emerge—patterns of tension, compensation and dysfunction that could not always be explained by looking at the symptomatic area in isolation.

Those observations progressively became the foundation of what is now the AXS Method:

A clinical reasoning system for understanding how structural relationships influence pain, posture and performance.

STRUCTURE CHANGES FUNCTION

The human body does not function as a collection of independent parts.

Muscles, fascia, joints, connective tissues and the nervous system continuously interact to maintain movement, stability and adaptation.

When these relationships work efficiently, mechanical forces can be distributed throughout the body.

When they become altered, the body compensates.

Over time, those compensations may contribute to excessive tension, restricted movement, tissue overload and eventually pain or impaired performance.

This is why AXS STRUCTURAL does not begin by asking only:

“Where does it hurt?”

It also asks:

“WHY is this tissue being overloaded?”

FROM SYMPTOM TO CAUSE

Pain tells us where the body is struggling.

It does not always tell us WHY.

A painful area may be the structure currently under stress, but the forces contributing to that stress can originate elsewhere.

The body compensates continuously, redistributing tension and load in order to preserve movement and function.

Over time, these compensations may become part of the problem itself.

The AXS Method therefore looks beyond the symptomatic region and asks a sequence of clinical questions:

What structure is suffering?
Which tissue, joint or region is producing the symptom?

Why is it suffering?
Is it being overloaded, restricted or repeatedly stressed?

Where is that stress coming from?
Are other structural relationships contributing to the problem?

What is maintaining the pattern?
Which compensations may be preventing the system from returning to a more efficient state?

This shifts the focus from simply naming a painful structure to reconstructing the mechanical story behind the symptom.

Two people may report pain in exactly the same location, yet the structural pattern behind that pain may be completely different.

For that reason, AXS STRUCTURAL does not treat a diagnosis alone.

It treats the individual pattern of dysfunction that assessment reveals.

The goal is not simply to quiet the symptom.

It is to understand the forces that may be creating or maintaining it.
